Capstone Experience

My capstone experience was my participation in the Millennium Fellowship in the fall of 2021 where I founded my initiative, "Beirut: Money for Medicine" which was working to advance the UN SDG goal #3: good health and well-being. Amidst the economic crisis in Lebanon that is causing shortages in medications, my project aimed to purchase medications for a pre-registered list of a little more than 50 Lebanese families who cannot afford to buy their necessary medicine. By creating a go-fund-me page and selling Lebanese food in GC, I was able to fundraise USD$1,075.00 and utilized all the money to buy medicine. I additionally raised awareness of the current economic crisis in Lebanon as I presented my initiative and explained the crisis as a guest speaker at a Friends of MSF meeting. I also spread awareness as I talked to many donors about the crisis as well. By raising awareness and raising money, I was able to spread the word on a cause that meant a lot to me, considering my love for health and my Lebanese background.
